AHS Chapters Engage with Bundestag Members

This month, AHS professional and campus chapters both engaged with members of the German Bundestag in discussions on transatlantic security and European leadership.
Our DC Professional Chapter, in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, hosted a panel at their Washington, D.C. office featuring CDU Bundestag Members Peter Beyer and Roland Theis. The conversation centered on Germany’s role in European leadership and security, offering valuable perspectives ahead of this year’s international policy discussions.
Students from Patrick Henry College visited the German Embassy, where they met with CDU Bundestag Member Kai Whittaker to discuss the future of NATO and the evolving U.S.–Germany partnership. The dialogue touched on expectations for the upcoming Munich Security Conference and its significance for transatlantic cooperation. Whittaker shared insights into how shifts in Germany’s domestic politics have shaped its foreign and defense policies over the past decade. Students also engaged directly with embassy officials, posing questions on alliance cohesion, burden-sharing, and Europe’s strategic trajectory. Senior Policy Affairs Specialist Kevin Dibb concluded the program by describing the Embassy’s day-to-day operations and how it advances Germany’s interests in the United States.
Through international partnerships and programming like these, AHS continues to advance its mission of fostering informed, substantive dialogue on U.S. foreign policy and strengthening networks among emerging leaders in national security and international affairs.
