Announcing the New AHS Library Project

The Alexander Hamilton Society (AHS) is proud to announce the launch of the AHS Library Project – an extensive reading initiative designed to cultivate and inform a new generation of leaders in foreign policy and national security.
The AHS Library Project will feature a growing collection of nearly 500 seminal works that explore the theory, practice, and historical evolution of foreign policy in its broadest dimensions. This initiative empowers students, scholars, and practitioners to pursue independent study, develop a nuanced understanding of global affairs, and engage in serious intellectual inquiry grounded in enduring principles and strategic thought.
“After extensive preparation, we are thrilled to introduce the AHS Library Project to our network of students, scholars, and the wider public,” says Molly Tobin, Interim Executive Director, The Alexander Hamilton Society. “We are proud to recognize the many students and alumni across the AHS network whose support and collaboration made this project possible. We look forward to continuing our work together as the Library Project grows and reaches new milestones.”
Released in phases, the Library Project begins with its Phase I Collection: The First Five Reads, a set of cornerstone texts carefully chosen to provide the essential intellectual framework for studying foreign policy, national security, and international relations. These works introduce central ideas, trace the development of key schools of thought, and build the conceptual foundation needed for more specialized exploration in subsequent phases.
Future phases – including “Art of Strategy”, “Mainsprings of World Politics”, “Novels”, “Operational Domains”, “Rivals and Terrain of Competition”, and “U.S. Purposes and Strategy” – will expand the collection to form a comprehensive roadmap for those seeking to understand not only the mechanics of policy but also the moral and philosophical debates that shape America’s role in the world.
With support from the Smith Richardson Foundation, who have enabled this vision to come to fruition, the AHS Library Project’s aim is to inspire independent thought, foster informed debate, and equip the next generation to meet the challenges of our modern world.
