The Alexander Hamilton Society (AHS) is hiring for new positions: Academic Programs and Editorial Assistant, Research Assistant, and Professional Programs Associate.
AHS is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, national organization that seeks to identify, educate, and launch young men and women into foreign policy and national security careers imbued with the Hamiltonian perspective of strong and principled American leadership in global affairs. We have established student-run chapters at over 80 universities as well as professional chapters and programming in NYC and Washington, D.C. Our alumni and affiliates have gone on to serve in the highest levels of government and industry.

Academic Programs and Editorial Assistant:
AHS is seeking to hire a full-time Academic Programs and Editorial Assistant to support its student chapters and national programming. Reporting to the Director of Academic Programs, he/she will have an opportunity to help shape the development and growth of the Academic team’s portfolio, mentor students, and cultivate relationships with senior academics and practitioners. This role involves heavy coordination between AHS’s student chapters and speaker network, managing program data, and providing editorial assistance for AHS publications. Ideal candidates are highly organized, strong communicators with a passion for U.S. foreign policy and national security. Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Director of Academic Programs to oversee AHS’s national network of student-led campus chapters, including hundreds of on-campus debates, discussions, and reading groups with U.S. foreign policy scholars and practitioners;
- Assist in executing AHS’s signature national-level programs, which currently includes an annual leadership conference, two fellowships, and robust summer programming;
- Assist with the publication of AHS’s annual student journal, The Hamiltonian, and other regular communications products;
- Track all programming-related quantitative and qualitative data;
- Personally oversee AHS’s student chapters in the Northeastern United States;
- Provide mentorship, academic guidance, and career advising to student leaders;
- Assist with other AHS projects as assigned.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree and a demonstrated interest in U.S. foreign policy/national security;
- Strong understanding of and commitment to AHS’s mission and principles;
- Deep and extensive knowledge of U.S. foreign policy and national security issues;
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain professional relations with faculty, students, and key network interlocutors;
- Phenomenal organizational skills, attention to logistical details, and the ability to manage a substantial number of projects and contacts at once.

Research Assistant:
This full-time Research Assistant provides research and administrative support to the executive director. Ideal candidates are committed to AHS’s mission, interested in our areas of focus, and possess an entrepreneurial spirit will find working at AHS incredibly rewarding.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists the executive director with his weekly Washington Free Beacon column and other writing projects;
- Provides research and other assistance for the executive director’s work;
- Manages the daily events and activities associated with the executive director, including managing lists of key audiences and partners and organizing meetings and events;
- Manages the executive director’s calendar and assists with travel bookings and logistics arrangements;
- Supports meetings and events at AHS and elsewhere involving the executive director;
- Conducts research and prepares briefs and background materials for meetings and engagements;
- Collaborates with other AHS colleagues on various projects and objectives, as new priorities develop.

- Superior writing, communication, and planning skills with strong attention to detail;
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a proactive personality;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while adhering to deadlines;
- Sensitivity to confidential matters and a high level of professionalism;
- A comfort level with CRM systems and Google Workspace.

Professional Programs Associate:
This full-time Professional Programs Associate will oversee the planning, logistics, administration, and execution of the Security and Strategy Seminar (SSS). The Security and Strategy Seminar (SSS) is a graduate-level seminar in Washington, D.C. focused on distinct challenges to the American position in the world with an emphasis on policy and cohort-building. SSS seeks to identify, educate, and launch a vanguard of competition-oriented young professionals into policy-relevant institutions advancing a new era in American strategic thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of the Security and Strategy Seminar (SSS), including planning, logistics, communications, finance, and social programming;
- Maintain communication with SSS instructors and fellows, coordinating schedules, session details, readings, and program logistics;
- Build and maintain relationships with fellows, instructors, partners, and program stakeholders;
- Oversee the publication and editorial process for the SSS journal, Security and Strategy: A Collection of Essays;
- Support recruitment through marketing, outreach, interviews, and applicant communications;
- Assist in planning and executing SSS events, including opening and closing sessions and the annual SSS Writing Workshop Conference;
- Support grant writing, partner communications, and tracking of SSS statistics and program achievements;
- Contribute to the continued growth and enhancement of SSS by refining curriculum, engaging alumni, developing new programming opportunities, and identifying ways to expand the program’s long-term impact.
Requirements
Preferred: Candidates should ideally have 2-3 years of professional experience. Applicants with less experience may still be considered for the role at a different title, depending on qualifications and fit.
