To help focus chapter efforts and maximize its impact on campus, the AHS national office awards points for chapter activities throughout the academic year. These cumulative scores determine recipients of key awards, including Chapter of the Year, Best New Chapter, and runners-up. Chapter performance is also taken into account when officers request  letters of recommendation. Beyond awards, this system fosters a spirit of friendly competition with your fellow chapter leaders. Any chapter can earn a high score, regardless of school size.

  • Chapters only receive points after completing the relevant Post Event Form and uploading all necessary attachments. All multimedia (flyers, photos, videos, articles) should be attached to the Post Event Form, as well as sign-in sheets with student email addresses. These sign-in sheets will only be accepted as an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Points are not awarded per number of officers who attend a national event. Chapters will receive the same points for having any number of officers who attend a national event.
  • To receive points for Speaker Events, your chapter must play a meaningful role in organizing the event. If you co-sponsor an event and work with another organization, you will receive additional points.

Scoring Period & Points Breakdown

The scoring year begins on the first day of the Student Leadership Conference and ends on June 1 of the next year. The Chapter Leaderboard is regularly updated on our website.

Awards

Chapter of the Year will be selected from the top four chapters with the highest cumulative point totals. Best New Chapter will be selected from among the chapters that became active during the given academic year. In addition to point totals, speaker evaluations and the national staff’s assessments will help inform final award selections. Except in unusual circumstances, chapters will not win the same award in consecutive years.

We confirm attendance figures and other important matters with speakers and faculty advisors. Any chapter found to have knowingly misrepresented its activities, as determined by the national staff, will be disqualified from award consideration. This policy ensures the integrity of the awards process and encourages honest reporting from all chapters.
