The Alexander Hamilton Society’s Summer Internship Program offers outstanding undergraduate students the opportunity to engage directly with international affairs, public policy, and leadership development at a national level. Designed for students who aspire to make a lasting impact in the realms of policy, strategy, and public service, this internship provides hands-on experience within a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to advancing spirited, informed debate on U.S. leadership in the world.
Interns work at AHS’s national headquarters in Washington, D.C., collaborating closely with staff to support programs, events, and chapter network across the country. You’ll gain meaningful exposure to the operations of a dynamic policy organization—planning national leadership conferences, assisting with communications and outreach initiatives, contributing to program research, and helping manage events that connect college students, alumni, and distinguished policy experts.
The program is designed to be immersive and educational. Interns participate in professional development sessions, speaker discussions, and mentorship opportunities that foster critical thinking and practical leadership skills. Whether assisting with strategic communications, refining written materials, or coordinating with AHS student chapters, interns leave the program with a deep understanding of how ideas can shape policy and civic engagement.
Ideal candidates are intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a growing national network of emerging leaders. Applicants should demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, a passion for foreign policy and American political thought, and a commitment to AHS’s mission of promoting rigorous debate and civic leadership.
The AHS Summer Internship Program is a meaningful step for students considering careers in public service, national security, foreign policy, or nonprofit leadership. Interns join a community that values intellectual seriousness, collaboration, and dedication to the principles of informed American engagement in global affairs.
