Hedgemony: A Game of Strategic Choices

There are many challenges facing the United States today that classroom analysis fails to address accurately. AHS prides itself on filling that void and giving tomorrow’s foreign policy leaders a holistic approach to their education. To that end, we are pleased to support chapters wishing to organize simulations of Hedgemony: A Game of Strategic Choices.

Hedgemony is a wargame designed to teach U.S. defense professionals how different strategies could affect the key planning factors of force development, force management, force posture, and force employment. In each simulation, players will be assigned to play a country with its own set of objectives. Each player’s main objective is to win the game, which can be done by accomplishing their country’s goals. This is no easy task, as each player will be competing with other players, as well as resolving both domestic and international events/crises. This game is meant to simulate the future of great-power competition, so come prepared to strategize, as there is ample opportunity for both war and diplomacy. Learn more about the simulation here.

General Information and Proposal Instructions

  • Simulations take 8 to 10 hours to play. We recommend chapters plan a full day but you may also split it into two days.

  • Simulations must have 10 to 12 players. As part of the proposal, you will need to provide a list of students expected to participate in the simulation.

  • Each proposal will be strengthened by having faculty member support (does not have to be AHS faculty advisor).

Proposals will be reviewed and approved on a rolling basis. Please reach out to Connor at connor@hamsoc.org with any questions concerning your Hedgemony proposals.
